If this isn’t enough of a challenge you can do more reps. If that’s too many than start lower and work your way up.

Mountain Climber

  1. Start with the pushup position
  2. Smoothly bring your right knee toward your right side of the chest
  3. Now smoothly switch and bring your left leg towards your left side of the chest and extend your right leg back straight.
  4. There should be no lower back movement when you do this exercise
  5. Continue – alternate between knees to your chest. Do 25 reps

Variation #1 Diagonal Mountain Climber

  1. Start with the pushup position
  2. Smoothly bring your right knee to your left elbow
  3. Now smoothly switch and bring your left leg towards your right elbow and extend your right leg back straight.
  4. Continue – alternate between knees to your chest. Do 25 reps

Variation #2 The Spider Climber

  1. Start with pushup position
  2. Smoothly bring your right foot to the outside of your right hand
  3. Now smoothly switch and bring your left foot to the outside of your left hand and extend your right leg back straight.
  4. Continue – alternate between knees to your chest. Do 25 reps

Variation #3 Diagonal Mountain Climber

  1. Start with pushup position
  2. Smoothly bring your knees to your left elbow with each rep.
  3. Now smoothly switch and bring your knees to your right elbow with each rep
  4. Continue – alternate between knees to your chest. Do 15 reps

Variation #4 Cross Body Climber

  1. Start with the pushup position
  2. Smoothly bring your right knee toward your left elbow
  3. Now smoothly switch and bring your left leg towards your right elbow and extend your right leg back straight.
  4. There should be no lower back movement when you do this exercise
  5. Continue – alternate between knees to your chest. Do 25 reps

Variation #6 Side to Side Climber

  1. Place yourself with your hands and knees on the floor
  2. With a straight back, fully extend your right leg to your side until it is at a 45 degree angle to the body.
  3. Lift your left knee just a couple of inches off the floor. This is your start position.
  4. Now smoothly switch your leg positions so that your right knee is now hovering above the floor and it is your left leg that’s out to the side.
  5. Alternate for 25 reps.
