Understanding the Role of HGH as an Anti Aging Remedy – Truth or Fiction

These days we hear a lot about human growth hormone – no longer is it a “Hollywood fad” – HGH has become mainstream. There has been a real growth in the use of human growth hormone as an anti aging remedy. The only problem is that people are confused about what is truth and what is fiction. There has been a great deal of research done on human growth hormone, which means that it becomes much easier to recognize the outrageous claims and really get an understanding of the capability of HGH based on the research.

Sadly, every day hundreds of HGH supplements are for sale online and far too many are making outrageous claims. For example, take HGH supplements today and tomorrow you will be 20 years younger.” That would certainly represent the hype and fiction about human growth hormone. On the other end of the spectrum is those HGH supplements that are high quality and do not claim anything more than what the research has shown, so these can be considered a promoting truth.

When it comes to medical professionals, some doctors see HGH as offering plenty of anti aging benefits, ‘a fountain of youth.’ However, there are also many who adamantly oppose its use believing the risks outweigh the benefits. Let’ look at human growth hormone a little more in-depth.

What is Growth Hormone

HGH or human growth hormone is produced by your pituitary gland, which is considered to be the master gland of your body. HGH promotes growth in children and adolescents. Once the body is no longer growing taller, HGH levels rapidly decline and as adults become very low. For more on HGH read more here!

HGH injections are very expensive and for the most part, unless you have a serious medical condition, they are more than what most people need, especially if you are only seeking the anti aging qualities. Instead, turn to HGH supplements, which are readily available, require no prescription, and are affordable.

Why Human Growth Hormone Works as an Anti Aging Treatment

Human growth hormone doesn’t just work on growth. It also works on body composition. Individuals with decreased levels of human growth hormone you will see an increase in body fat and a decrease in muscle mass, along with a decrease in bone density. In essence, the symptom looks very much like aging.

The interest in using human growth hormone for age related changes to the body in healthy adults dates back some time. A study by Dr. Rudman and others published in 1990 in the New England Journal of Medicine. This study found that a small number of older men who were given HGH saw an improved muscle mass, decreased body fat, and increased bone density.

Since then the number of claims has continued to increase and so has the research supporting it.

Rudman gathered a group of 21 men together. To half of them he gave a synthetic version of growth hormone three times a week. To the other half he gave nothing. He performed monthly examinations to note the manifestations of aging in all the men. The men treated with hormones recuperated 10% of their muscle, the skin increased its thickness by 9% and they lost 14% of their body fat. The livers and spleens of these men recovered mass. Some of the men felt mild pain in their hands due to an increase of muscle mass and the pressure it created on the joints. But in general, almost all reported noticeable improvements, compared to the group that received no hormones.

In the same 1990 Rudman HGH study the New England Journal of Medicine, reported that Dr. Rudman also found that after a six-month period of HGH injections, lean body mass and fat tissue changes were equivalent in magnitude to the changes incurred during 10-20 years of aging. In other words, the test subjects demonstrated a reversal in the aging process, appearing younger, sleeker, and stronger, and benefiting from an increase in muscle mass and a loss in body fat. Lung capacity and heart, immune, and kidney function all improved with HGH.

The largest review of trials with HGH demonstrate that long-term use of growth hormone caused an average 2.3 kilogram (about 5 lbs) loss of weight, 2.6 kg (5.6 lbs) loss of fat, 1.4 kg (3 lbs) increase in lean body mass, and no consistent change in bone density. Patients felt generally better after taking HGH, even without a change in their lifestyle and diet.

It is sure that HGH injections are far stronger than HGH supplements but are there proof that HGH supplements actually work for anti aging as well? I mean some of the claims made by some of these products are way too good some might call them unreasonable. Don’t get me wrong I am sure that some of these hgh supplements actually work otherwise what would explain the thousands of people using them over and over.

Anyone who wants to look younger will surely have a go for HGH injections after they read this article. – if they have the money, that is… and yes for the general people they’d opt for the supplements. Are there any disadvantages to this? How about some side effects? The article just tackled on the benefits.
